PRATT, Col. Daniel Wells, M.D.,
passed away Saturday, April 5, 2003 at
Town and Country Hospital, Tampa. Daniel
was born September 15, 1918 in LaCanada,
Calif., the son of Robert and Carrie
Isabel Pratt. Daniel lived a distinguished
life of service to his family and country.
After graduating with honors from Pomona
University in 1941, he was commissioned
as an officer in the U.S. Army. Colonel
Pratt served with great distinction in
both the European and North African Theatres
of World War II. Upon his return home
after the war, Daniel entered and graduated
from Johns Hopkins University Medical
School and subsequently re-entered the
U.S. Army as an orthopaedic surgeon.
Having established a record of excellence
throughout the U.S. Medical Corps, Col.
Pratt completed Special Forces and U.S.
Army Airborne training. His legacy of
leadership in hospital command and combat
support is recorded in the annals of U.S.
Army operations in Europe, Vietnam, and
the U.S.. Col. Pratt served as a surgeon
for the Strike Command (Central Command).
Daniel was and shall always remain an example
of integrity, loyalty, and deep commitment
to his family and friends. He is survived
by his wife of 37 years, Mary Agnes and
sons, Robert and John and daughter, Sarah.
While he will be deeply missed by family
and friends, his presence, strength, grace
and honor shall abound forever.
